Primary Schoolers Having Learning Difficulties
- Some children grow and
develop more slowly than others.
- There are many names for
this slow development. Sometimes having a name for the difficulty helps
parents, teachers and the child cope.
- Learning difficulties
can arise when children:
- can't pay attention
- words seem to jump
around on the page
- feel things are going
too fast for them
- have physical
disabilities
- confuse letters and
words, left and right, foreground and background
- can't hear differences
in sounds
- need more time to
learn
- can't organise all
they see, hear and think
- have trouble
remembering
- have trouble speaking,
moving or coordinating their bodies.
- If you are worried about
your child's progress:
- check eyesight and
hearing
- speak to your child's
teacher about your child's social development as well as their school
work
- see your doctor,
speech therapist, health professional
