Teenagers Listening To Music

  • All teenagers love music It's often music you hate, played at maximum decibels.
  • Music is a shared bond between teenagers. It gives them an identity, a feeling of belonging to a group.
  • Try to be reasonable. If you shout "Turn off that ghastly noise" your teenager will feel it's an attack on them because they love and identify with the music strongly.
  • Try to understand their music, even if you don't like it.
  • Discuss what volume you can stand. Suggest they play it loudly when you and the neighbours are out.
  • Before your child goes to rock concerts, explain about the dangers of deafness and give them ear plugs.
