Teenagers Moral Behavior

  • By the time your children are teenagers you expect them to know right from wrong. But this is a time when they are still questioning everything - sometimes this means you!
  • Young people need to:
    • feel competent
    • do things which interest them
    • know their strengths
    • do what you expect of them
    • have control - to wait, calm down when angry
    • make decisions.
  • They should care and be able to:
    • accept other people as they are
    • recognise and understand their own and other people's feelings
    • talk about feelings.
  • They need to understand the consequences of behaviour and to know:
    • your expectations
    • what will happen in this event based on what happened last time.
  • They will learn these things by talking about:
    • what they do and what others do
    • what you do, what you think and feel
    • what they think and feel and why.
