Show them the difference
If you are buying toys together with your child then always try and reason with them before buying expensive things. You must always show them the price it is available for and how much they would be using it. It is money being spent for amusement so they have to be made aware about what you are spending on. Always show them the difference between expensive and affordable. And how the saved money could be used on something else or may be just saved. Inculcate this habit in your child to make them individuals who spend wisely. Toys can be a good beginning and with time when the form of toys change your child must be a sensitive aware individual who makes good choices.

Buying computer games, dolls and other tech gadgets
More and more kids are turning towards computer games as a source of entertainment. A lot of time is spent in front of the computer screen crossing levels and beating enemies. While computer games are entertaining they can be stressful. They affect eyes, body weight, back and hand problems. Always buy a few CDS. Your child can exchange CDS with friends instead of buying all of them because eventually after he finishes playing one the fancy will soon be over. Similarly avoid buying a collection of the same doll. Keep a time difference between buying new dolls. Buy dolls that are child-like than the ones that look like full grown women.

Try buying toy books with stories, figures and characters. That is always a better way to play and learn.

Indulge in outdoors
Buy toys that allow your child to move out of the house. A badminton set, a cricket set, a skipping rope, roller skates, a tent, a soccer ball are some toys that make your child step out of the house and indulge in physical activity. You can even go to a garden together and have a great time. It can even mean a good work out for you instead of plain old jogging or brisk walking.

Buy on special occasions
Keep the expensive toys for special occasions. Always make the expensive toy special. Give it in the form of a gift or reward. A birthday can be one such occasion. Good grades, good gestures deserve to be recognized and nothing better than a toy that your child has been longing for.
