As soon as a child is into his mother’s womb, parents start planning for their child’s secure future, whether it is education child plans, further education or a child’s marriage. There are so many anxieties and worries that they have. As the child grows up, the first foundation of a child’s learning process is a right school. Therefore many parents worry about choosing a good school for their kids.
Asking a little help from others
Before you go and fill up the forms, you can do a little research by looking on the web to read up a little bit about the quality of education in different schools and its reputation. Then you can ask some advice from neighbours, friends and colleagues if they have any children, then they can give good suggestions about the schools their kids are studying. You can even ask the kids in your locality especially older kids about the schools they are studying in, the facilities out there, about the teachers, Principal, studying pattern and so on. Children will always give an honest feedback.
Choices you have in your mind
As parents, you might want your child to go in a school with certain criteria like some might want their child to go in a co-ed school while some might want an only boys or only girl’s school. Then some might want their child to study in a convent school while some might want to send their kid to a private school. Do you want a school somewhere near in your locality or you are willing to make your child travel slightly far at a distance? Are you looking for a school which has a good academic record or you also want a school to emphasize on extracurricular activities too? Then choosing the preferred examination system whether you want CBSE that is National Board or SSC that is a State Board Examination?
Over all development of your child
It is important to choose a school with a good academic record but there are many other factors which are important for an overall development of your child. Good and motivating teachers play an important role in shaping up a child’s future. Find out whether there are teachers who teach well, are motivating and encouraging. Getting to know how the staff and the Principal interact with students. Having an open environment at school is very important where the students can interact with the staff and teachers to clear any doubts they have in their mind.
Check whether there are any new teaching methods that the school has adopted like using power point presentation and do they take extra interest in making learning more fun or do they adopt the same traditional teaching methods. Apart from this you should look whether the school has good sports facilities, do they have enough fields? Does the school organize lot of extracurricular activities, camps and workshops? All these factors are very important for a child’s growth and development.
At the end, after looking at various options, it would be your decision to choose the right school for your child. Do not take too much stress and just stick to your choice. Be rest assured and let your child enjoy his or her childhood with a good educational experience and develop his overall skills and be a confident and mature individual.
