Passport Application Form

 

Application form- the first and the foremost step for an individual to follow who wants a new passport. The applicant can download the form either in English or in Hindi as per his convenience from the official government website www.Passport.gov.in

There are 2 types of application forms namely Form No 1 & Form No 2. Form No. 1 can be used for the following :

• Application for a Fresh or new Passport
• Application for Reissue of a Passport
• Application for Replacement of Lost/Damaged passports
• Application for Change of Name/Appearance in the Passport
• Application for Exhaustion of pages in the Passport
• Passport Application for Minors

When an applicant has not had a passport earlier a fresh application can be made.
In case an application has been made earlier details of the same have to be mentioned on the form whether it was processed or closed. If details are not mentioned the applicant has to pay a penalty.

An applicant may apply for a new passport when his/her about to expire passport upto 3 years after and 1 year before the expiry of the Passport. Re-issue of passport should not be mistaken for renewal of passport.

Generally passports are issued for a period of 10 years. If due to an emergency an applicant has issued a passport for a period between 1-5 years then he/she can apply for passport renewal i.e. extending the validity of the current passport.

In situations of a lost passport an applicant can apply for a new passport.

Form No. 2 swerves the following purposes:-
• Making application for Police Clearance Certificate
• Deletion of ECR Stamp,
• Inclusion of Spouse’s name
• change of address
• Renewing a short term validity passport to its full term validity

Once the form has been completely and duly filled the applicant can submit the form in the respective Passport offices, District Passport Centers and Speed Post Centers.

At the time of submission the applicant should make sure that all the necessary required documents are submitted as well. These documents should be attested. To make sure that the application is not rejected and you do not have face trouble, the applicant should follow all the instructions while filling in the form.

Use capital letters only. Particulars given in the form will be printed in the passport.
• Use black/blue ball pen only and strictly avoid pencils and ink pens
• After each completed word leave a box blank..
• Write concized information to fit in well within the boxes and make sure box boundaries are not touched.
• Avoid over-writing
• Do not submit incomplete applications.

The process is very simple and straight forward. The applicant just needs to follow instructions and a visit the site passport.gov.in for all details.
