POKEMAN VIRUS-a virus which turned Kids Into Net Victims

Pikachu, the Japanese Pokémon cartoon character, had mutated on the Web into a horrible computer-bug, spreading himself via e-mails in August this year.

The Japanese Pokémon cartoon character had mutated on the Web into a nasty little computer-bug, spreading himself via e-mails like the devastating “Love Bug” had done
The cute yellow rabbit-like creature, a darling of the Pokémon video-game family, had popped up in the United States, wrecking PCs that it gets into by wiping out their system files.

Children stay alert — A Pikachu in your e-mail is not as cute as he seems.
Since it came as a little Pokémon animation, kids were interested in double-clicking on it.
This worm appeared as an e-mail with the title “Pikachu Pokémon” & an English message “Pikachu is your friend". Experts advise anyone still receiving the mail to delete the file without opening it.
Although Pokey, has spread less rapidly and less far, once it gets into your computer, its bite is far harder than the Love Bug virus. It destroys all files in the  System and Windows directories. The Microsoft operating system, used by four-fifths of the world’s computers, has to be reinstalled from scratch.

The Golden rule is still Always be careful with e mails.

The Love Bug and the earlier Melissa attracted so much attention that many computer users never open unsolicited e-mail attachments. That should be the rule. And always go safe surfing, since suspect Web sites could also contain viruses. Remember, it is better to be safe than sorry. When in doubt, just throw it out !(Just delete it).
