home tutoring service

When it comes to making a choice of home tutoring service for your children it is very important to put in a lot of time and careful consideration. This is because it is very important to find a suitable match between the tutoring and your child. Trying to hasten the choosing process will only result in making a not very good choice because choosing the best tutor takes some good amount of questioning.

The first thing that is very important is to make sure you have a conference with your child to assess his/her needs aptly. Then you may ask the child’s teacher for a home tutor referral. Some of the other reliable sources of referrals can be friends who have children with similar needs, or the family physician or the school counselor.

It would not be a good idea to use any tutor unless you have a referral from someone who you respect or someone who has actually used the services. During the initial conversation with the tutor it is necessary to ask several very important questions. Some of the questions would be about the qualifications of the tutor, the kind of tutoring experience he/she has had, the kind of other teaching experience he/she has had, educational background.

It is also important to ask some specific questions relating to your own particular needs. Since home tutoring requires a good teaching method since it is individual, it is important to know the methods used by the home tutoring service. Also the next important question would be about how long the sessions would be and how often, how much progress can be expect in how long, how the progress will be communicated to you.

And of course one thing you have to remember is that a home tutoring service will definitely be more expensive than any other form of tutoring as it requires a lot of personal attention for your child. Therefore negotiate the fees and also decide the mode of payment, whether it will be paid, cash, check, weekly, monthly, etc.

The tutor should do his/ her own assessment of your child's needs and design a plan. If the tutor does not suggest this, it would be better to offer the suggestion on your own. By doing this, neither of you would have made a long-term commitment and at the end of the first session, you will be in a better position to decide.

In India especially, home tutoring services are becoming all the more important. This is because the group sessions in India just seem to be very crowded and are somehow not as effective as individual sessions. The cost is of course much lesser but most of the preprogrammed systems that are being advertised commercially in most of the cities in India these days usually fail to fit the individual needs of the students.
