Admission process for getting into a good Indian B-school is a pain staking process. You need to give all kinds of entrance exams, appear for group discussions and personal interviews, fill up B-school forms, learn about different B-school and their specializations, check the cut-offs, make decisions and finally short list the B-school you want and are getting admission into!

Today, there are thousand plus B-school in the country and the number is only growing. B-schools are now mushrooming in semi-urban cities so that the youth of the country is not concentrated in urban regions of the country.
For admission into a goof B-school, the first and the foremost thing to do is to be “aware”. By this statement I mean the aspirant should read MBA magazines, surf the net and read newspapers to know about different kinds of B-schools and various courses that they are offering.

Since there are so many management schools that are springing up in the country, it is imperative that you know about them. For example, many B-schools have now started offering niche specializations like MBA in agriculture management, MBA in fashion technology and so on. One also has the option of visiting a career counselor who can guide you about different kinds of MBAs that are offered in the country.

There are various kinds of entrance exams that one needs to clear to enter a particular B-school. The IIMs (Indian Institutes of Management) are the premier institutions in the country. They conduct all India entrance examinations called CAT (Common admission test).

More than two lakh students appear for this exam every year. However, only the top students get through the institution. Other colleges like S. P Jain, MICA, Somaiya etc also consider the CAT score. Other entrance exams like XAT (conducted by XIC, Jamshedpur), MAT (conducted by all India Management institution), SNAP (conducted by Symbiosis, Pune), NMAT (conducted by N M college, Mumbai), CET (conducted by Maharashtra board) etc.
