MBA CAT

 

MBA is a highly rewarding career option. For getting admission into a top B-school, there is immense competition. Entrance exams, group discussions (GD) and personal interviews (PI) are conducted to select the best students. Entrance exams are the major factor in determining the admission of the student. The calls for the GD and the PI are based on the scores of the entrance exam.
 
CAT like all other competitive entrance exams throws up the challenge to a student by being unpredictable and surprising. The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) conduct the all India entrance exam CAT. CAT is given by more than two and a half lakh students every year and the number only keeps increasing every year.  CAT is known for its ever changing structure.

The exam is conducted in many different cities across India usually in the month of November.

The top performers in CAT (around three hundred students) are selected for MBA in the top six IIMs. CAT scores are also accepted by many other institutes like MICA, S.P. Jain, Somaiya and many others.  CAT usually follows the multiple choice question formats. The three areas on which the students are selected are Math, English and Data interpretation. Usually the exam is conducted for two to three hours. CAT is a test of your performance in these critical hours.

Time is a major factor here. In the stipulated time period, one is expected to solve a set number of questions. Your strategy, concentration, decision taking ability, performance under stress, presence of mind etc are all tested in this challenging exam.
 
The percentile system is adopted in CAT results. This means that the student who has given his best performance of all the other students scores 100 percentile and the other performances follow.
 
There are many coaching classes like IMS, Career Launcher, TIME etc that give you enough practice and training for exams like CAT.
 
Indeed, giving CAT is a wonderful event in itself!
