  Depression affects people of all ages but is less common for teenagers than for adults. Sometimes depressed people cannot perform even the simplest daily activities like getting out of bed or getting dressed. Clinical depression refers to any form of depression that requires some form of treatment in order to alleviate it.

Loss of interest in activities previously enjoyed.
Unexplainable body aches and pains, Persisting physical symptoms which do not  respond to treatment eg digestive disorders, headaches, etc
Sleeping too much, or sleep too little.
Persistent feelings of irritability, anxiety, or sadness.
Unexpected weight gain or loss.
Tiredness or restlessness feeling
Feeling of low self-esteem, worthlessness or Guilt.
Inability to concentrate and poor memory retention.
Loss of motivation, hopelessness, making decisions.
Suicidal behavior or thoughts.
Withdrawal from relationships, friends & anti-social behavior patterns.


Some people experience a few symptoms of clinical depression and some may experience more symptoms. Clinical depression is a lot more common than most people think.

There are a variety of anti-depressant medications and psychotherapies that can be used to treat depressive disorders. Some people with milder forms may do well with psychotherapy alone.
