Preschool education is a very important
phase in a child’s life. This phase introduces him to something far
bigger than his family and immediate surroundings. Yes, it’s called
social life where they would get an opportunity to know new people,
learn to communicate and develop new skills. To ensure a happy early
childhood education, parents also need to be prepared. It will be the
first time when the child will be separated from the parents; even it’s
for just few hours. The process of child education begins with
registering him to a play school or kindergarten.
The first day is always a big day in the life of both child as well as
parents. Child has every reason to be scared. He will not know any other
kids in the class and he will be separated from his parents for the
first time. For the kid, things can’t get worst than this. Here, the
role of the parents and teachers at preschool is very crucial. Each of
them would like the kid to get adjusted to the school learning but at
the same time, you won’t prefer it to become a daily chore for him. It
should definitely be an enjoyable experience for the child. Teachers
should get the child involved in fun activities of the kindergarten
education. This way, child will be prepared to listen, follow directions
and getting acquainted with a group.
Introduction to early childhood education begins with preschool. But the
child should be able to experience a joyful day at the school and only
then he would love to come back again next day. Parents can also discuss
with the child and make him aware of where he will be going, what he
will be doing and who will take care of him etc. Though, child will not
remember each and every thing said by you but he will be informed of
what to expect. Another positive aspect of this pep talk from parents is
that child will not feel like a stranger in this new setting. Slowly, he
will start gaining confidence and will not throw tantrums while going to
the school.
Not every child is extrovert. Some children are quite shy when it comes
to interacting with others. Parents and teachers should help them in
becoming socially active. Group activities like playing in a team,
sharing or taking turn etc form important parts of early childhood
education learning. Parents and teachers should take responsibility of
arranging such group games.
One of the inherent parts of child development education is reading
sessions. Parents should prepare kids for such exercises in advance.
They can read him a story every day. It should be an interesting story
that will make child interested in story sessions and will also help him
in becoming a good reader. To develop his listening skills, it is
recommended to read aloud.
Preparing child for a happy early childhood education is definitely a
challenge for both parents as well as teachers. But little bit of
efforts and understanding goes long ways in letting your child enjoy his
preschool experience. Once he starts feeling happy with his daily
schedule, it bodes well for his further education and subsequently for
his bright future.
