plywood prices

A layman would define plywood as a ply made out of wood. But on the other hand a plywood trade would define plywood on the basis of its price in the market.

We all are aware that plywood furniture i.e. furniture made out of plywood is expensive in the market. But we never tried to find why it is so expensive??There are certain grades of plywood on which prices of plywood are based. Plywood can be classified mainly into four categories represented with letters A, B, C, D. With A being the most expensive of them all and vice versa.

Grade A is the best of them all. It has a smooth surface with no knots at all.

Apart from these grades, plywood prices are also dependent on certain factors depending upon its use. These types are classified as exterior, interior, marine and structural. Marine type is used for building boats. Structural type is mainly used for wooden cartons. Interior plywood is used for internal furniture and flooring.

Apart from these above types, plywood price are also derived as a result of the thickness of the plywood sheet and its exposure. Exposure of the plywood refers to the goodness of the plywood when it comes to climate and natural factors. They are mainly classified as 1 & 2.

1 is suitable and durable for all types of weather conditions. 2 is suitable for indoor purposes only. According to the Indian Economic Survey 2002-2003, the Indian Plywood Industry has seen a sharp rise in Exports over the past decade. The Exports of the Indian Plywood Industry has grown from 9% in 1996-1997 to 23% which is an awesome achievement.
