salvage boats for sale
|
| If you've always wanted a boat, but
were deterred by the price factor, then a salvage boat is what you are
looking for.
Salvage boats are usually those that have been damaged in some way. Most owners put such salvage boats on sale. Boats are also sold off by owners who have bought newer ones and want to get rid of the older vessel. Alternatively, they could be auctioned off by an insurance company, or a bank, which took on the boats as a form of security against loans. In most foreign countries that have a shoreline, salvaging and re-selling of boats is an important business. There are salvage yards, auctions, salvage classifieds, and associated professions like recycling, dismantling and claim adjusting. You could buy a salvage boat for your own use or you could sell it again, second-hand. It is great opportunity to get a boat cheap. You could get it repaired, but before buying, you need to figure out just how bad the damage is before buying it. It is best to pay the sellers a visit and take a good, long look at the vessel. Check for floor rot, vibrations, engine response, gear shifting, instruments and gauges, number of hours it has run and so on, just like your would for a car or truck. In fact, take a test ride, if possible. You could also seek advise from a sailing professional on how much it would cost you to get the boat repaired. author Annie Zaidi @indianchild.com
