Salvage yards is the place where we all have probably seen once in our
lifetime. All things needed in life cannot be purchased brand new. In that
case, a salvage yard comes to the rescue.
There is at least one salvage yard in every city of the world. New things
and new inventions make way for old things and products towards the exit
door. These old things and products either land up being resold or otherwise
land up at the salvage yards.
Generally, the most common things found at a typical salvage yard are the
dumbbells, rusty chains, metallic sheets, rubber tires, iron rods and a
whole lot of junk stuff.
For e.g. in Mumbai city ( formerly Bombay) there are a lot of salvage yards.
Take for instance, if any person wants to buy second hand dumbbells he has
to head straight to the Andheri east footbridge.
The same way there are many places in the world where there are millions of
junkyards and salvage yards.
Many people have a mini salvage yard right in their backyards. These mini
salvage yards consists of basically all kinds of household articles like
broken doors, windows, broken metal parts and old cupboards etc…
People who are generally found at the salvage yards are small time junk
owners, scientists for their research work, engineers for their building
needs and also the common man for his need of cheap, and used articles.
In short, all types of people are found at a salvage yard hunting for some
or the other thing.
But salvage yard necessarily doesnt mean that it contains free of charge.
Salvage yard has become a business too. At a salvage yard at C.S.T station
at mumbai one can hear constant sounds of bargain and sale by the large
number of customers and the salvage yard owners. In India, ship salvage is
one of the biggest salvage businesses where ships are old ships are bought,
dismantled & sold to scrap dealers & steel mill owners.
