The pediatrician will explain to you what the side effects of the medicines administered are. The first vaccination BCG is an important dosage given within 15 days to a month to the infant. Since it is given in the upper hand, it does lead to bit of swelling. A little pain is natural but it
gives much protection against tuberculosis for the child. Taking care of
the baby after the injection is easy if you just ease out the pressure.
Infants recover quite fast and usually there are no major side effect. It is best to heed the advice of the nurse and give the right kind of attention to the child. It is not right to apply any herbal medicine or massage the area. Doctors prefer to inoculate the thigh muscle and some inconvenience for a few hours is bound to be there. Older children are quite receptive about the side effects and everything gets to normalcy faster. Disclaimer: The author’s articles are provided for general information.
