Preparing children for vaccination

Infants usually do not require much planning for a vaccination. Except that you must ensure that the child does not have any fever or other illness. Doctors usually advice you on the same ground. Before vaccination you as parents need to be convinced that this for protecting the child. Some kind of assurance from your side to the health care section is necessary.

The vaccination needle is disposable and the doctor will require you to be there to hold the baby. You must be mentally prepared as it takes only a minute for the injection.

Infants and children do cry or resist the injection with lot of force. This is naturally there way of reacting to the pain or inconvenience. It is of utmost importance to co operate with the nurse and doctor so that it goes off smoothly.

The doctors tell you the combination of the immunization and you also ask them a few questions. Sometimes there is fever or general irritation seen in the child after some vaccine. You need not worry as they settle too with the prescribed medicine. Also, loose clothing especially on the area has to be observed.

In case you feel there is swelling or a lot of pain then you must report the same to the doctor. Health for your child is the priority and hence the doctor insists on you following the schedule. Being punctual on the dates of immunization is very much recommended so that your child gets the best protection.
