Tetanus is another deadly disease. Usually there are 4 booster dozes. It is combined in the DPT set of vaccination. It is very important to give all the booster dozes too so that the child is well protected during a tetanus attack. The bacteria stays alive for a long time and hence it is a serious disease that begins with a headache and slowly causes muscle spasms. As tetanus is spread by injury and open wounds it is important to heal well by proper medication. Infected sharp objects can also
cause contamination and spread of the disease. The tetanus vaccine is
also given to pregnant ladies so that they are well protected before
their delivery time. The third shot for Tetanus is preferred around 10 to 12 years and the last year can be given around 16 years. Despite the same the pediatrician may also recommend the shots in between or beyond 16 years if the person is prone to injury for e.g. sports or other activity.
