Most people buy textiles from retail shops. Cloth or readymade garments are also sold at wholesale markets, but wholesale textile buyers usually buy textiles in bulk, for the purpose of reselling it. Sometimes, retailers advertise a ‘sale’ by selling textiles at wholesale prices.

Indian textiles have been famous down the ages. Even today, they are exported to many countries, especially Australia, Indonesia, Canada, Saudi Arabia, South Africa and United States. The most popular fabrics for wholesale supplies buyers are natural fibres like cotton, hemp, linen, silk, wool and jute.

In India, one of the largest industries is manufacture of textiles. In fact, the textile industry is our single-largest foreign exchange earner for the country. The success of the textile industry has been possible because of a large workforce and huge supply of cotton, most of which is grown locally.
