wireless LAN |
|
Wireless LAN (WLAN) is a network which allows access to NUNet and the Internet
without the need for any wired connections to the user's machine. With a
wireless LAN , you can use wireless for e-mailing, web browsing, home Directory
access and printing to local network printers. A wireless connection works like a wired Ethernet connection. Wireless access may be up to 11 megabits per second. Since the wireless lan network bandwidth is shared among all users connected via wireless in a given area, the network speeds may be noticeably slower when too many people are using wireless, and generally may not be as fast as wired Ethernet.
